“Death is a very dull, dreary affair, and my advice to you is to have nothing whatsoever to do with it.” — W. Somerset Maugham
I don’t usually like to dwell on death too much. There’ll be plenty of time for that later. Hopefully much later. But when the über talented Torre de Roche from Fearful Adventurer asked me to do a guest post on a “brush with death” for her “Holy Sh*t I’m Going to Die” week, I jumped at the chance. I figured my earthquake story in Turkey back in 1999 would have been too much of a downer considering recent events, so opted to go with a semi-humourous account of almost getting trapped on ice pans in Newfoundland. If you’re not even sure what an “ice pan” is, read the full post on Torre’s blog here: Death on Ice — Holy Sh*t I’m Going to Die! (Story 2).
While you’re at it, don’t forget to follow Torre on Twitter: @FearfulGirl and Like her on Facebook. Did I mention she’s about to publish a book too? Check out the trailer for Swept: Love With a Chance of Drowning on her site.
I have guest posted in the past as well, so if you’ve got some time to spare, check out 10 Great Reasons to Travel from 10 Great Travelers and Calauit Island — A Little Piece of Kenya in the Philippines.
