The Men and Women of Travel Blogging Calendar
I’ve had a pretty rich history with toilet humour on this blog (or pretty sick depending on your leanings), so when I volunteered to be part of the 2013 Travel Blogging Calendar for charity, it seemed only appropriate to incorporate some of that into the cause. I mean, if you can’t laugh when faced with adversity, what else can you do? Oh yeah, you can actually get of your ass and DO SOMETHING.
In the spirit of doing something 23 bloggers, and poser me, bared (mostly) all to help raise a few bucks for two charities — Mitrata Nepal and VSO Bahaginan. More on those organizations in a bit.
Anatomy of a Travel Blogging Calendar
The idea for a calendar for charity spawned from the brain of Chris Walker-Bush — “The Bear with the Heart of Gold” — and the chap behind the blog Aussie on the Road. Jeremy Foster from travelFREAK did much of the heavy lifting when it came to setting up the website, and Regine Garcia (www.reginegarcia.com) was the talent behind the design work. The good folks at uPrinting.com donated the printing services for the calendar, ensuring that every cent raised goes directly to the charities.
Here’s a sneak-a-peek of the results…
The Men of Travel Blogging Calendar
Twelve fearless men, (okay, 10 fearless men, one super-fearless woman in drag, and me) ham it up for the cameras. (Can you spot me?)
The Women of Travel Blogging Calendar
With more cleavage than a gaggle of Dolly Parton impersonators, these twelve ladies have got it going on. In my humble opinion, this calendar is hands-down the better buy — mostly because I’m not in it.
No matter which calendar appeals to you (or maybe even both do) you’re supporting a good cause.
The 2013 Travel Blogging Calendar Charities
Here’s some more info on the work of the two charities selected:
Mitrata Nepal (http://www.mitratanepal.org)
The fundamental objective of Mitrata foundation is to make the Mitrata children’s home mature into a family based, long-term residential care organization. We also believe that children should have the opportunity to fully develop his/her gifts and recognize the potentials which he/she already has. Hence we provide them education and lessons on morals and cultivate a fondness for family values and team work. The aim of Mitrata is to provide a loving family environment for children who have known little or no security in their lives.
VSO Bahaginan (http://vsobahaginan.org)
You can order your copy of the 2013 Travel Blogging Calendar (Men’s or Women’s versions) for just $25 by going to the Travel Blogging Calendar website.
